As soon as I arrived in Chiang Mai, I was swept away by how cute and homely it felt. First stop was to find my hostel which was funny enough called “Near the park backpacker house”. I actually was only going to stay two nights in Chiang Mai but I ended up stay four nights. I found out that there was heaps of exciting things to do here.
On my first full day here I did the Hike & Bike Adventure tour through the Doi Suthep Natonal Park. It took us less time to walk up than it was to bike down as it had been raining during the night plus during the walk which made the track with the bikes a bit muddy.
No rest for the wicked on the next day I was off Ziplining at Skyline Adventure. It was the scariest and funniest mixed together. The three guys that looked after us were amazing and helpful, as I was pretty much sh*tting my pants when it came to the abseiling & the bridges. The actual ziplining was ok, video/s to come…hahaha, I did a lot of awkward laughing & screaming. The one thing that save me all day was my Seabands, best decision ever to bring them with me.
Needed a slower pace so I decided to do a cooking class at Mama Noi Thai Cookery School. I was really excited, I ended up making Pad Thai, Som Tum (Papaya Salad), Tom Yum Kung (Hot & Sour Prawn Soup), Massaman Curry (including creating the paste for it) and my favourite dish to make was the Thai Red Rubies Water Chestnuts in Coconut Milk. Plus we also make one spring roll each and a Ice Thai Tea (Cha-Yen). It was so good and you also get to take home the recipes. ” the secret ingredient is one heaping teaspoon of love” and “Hot is Sexy, the hotter the dish the sexier you are” were the most common sayings during my time at the cookery school.
